Designer's Inspiration Story: From the Light of the Mountains to the Habitat of Humanity
The designer of this lamp, Nathan Carter, is an oriental designer who has lived in Northern Europe for many years. He has always believed that light should not just be a tool for illuminating a space, but a medium for awakening emotions and memories.
On a journey through the forests of Yakushima, Japan, he stepped into a misty forest early in the morning, where the sunlight fell through the gaps in the canopy and splashed on the moss and rocks. At that moment, he was deeply touched by the layers of light and shadow in nature. He said it was like “the shapes carved by time in the air”.
When he returned to his studio, he solidified that scene into the form of a lamp -
- made of warm natural walnut wood, and through digital modeling, he cut the “path of light” into the wood, forming a geometric structure of interlocking layers and staggered heights. When the light is lit from the inside, it seems that the breath of the forest, the flow of the mountain mist, and the fragments of sunlight are all collected into this square inch.
This is not only a lighting tool, but also a poetic space sculpture.
It brings the natural light into the interior, and quietly conveys the designer's reverence for nature, order and inspiration to everyone who uses it.
